Maya utilises a relational and developmental approach, with a particular interest in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking. This means helping clients to make sense of their thoughts, feelings and experiences by understanding how and why their struggles or difficulties came to be. With children Maya utilises play and art to help children communicate about their thoughts and feelings when they struggle to do so with words. Clients are supported to reflect, make links and understand themselves in depth, and this alleviates internal pain, shifts behaviour and unhelpful patterns or symptoms. The approach enhances development and supports clients to fulfil their potential.
